What is Residency by Investment Visa?
Residency by Investment, also known as Green Card in the USA, Permanent Residency in Canada, Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, and Permanent Migration in Australia, allows investors to secure permanent residency in another country while keeping their original passport.
Investments may include businesses, real estate, financial products, government bonds, or funds, with each country setting its own criteria. Residency programs usually have minimal age, education, and language requirements, though investors must reside for a specific period, which varies by country.
Over time, eligible investors can also apply for citizenship. For Indian citizens, the RBI’s Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) permits up to USD 250,000 per person annually to be remitted abroad, making global investment easier.
